I finally did it. I called Liberty Mutual to find out the exact date I go back to work. September 23rd is the big day. Am I excited about this? No – but not because I don’t want to work. I like the thought of having more adult interaction and having different things to do each day…and of course, I’d like to get paid 🙂 For the most part I like being at work! But, I can’t stand the thought of being without my baby. I’m not going to lie, I’ve already been in tears about this several times. Now September 23rd is a Friday, so I’ll kind of ease into work. And Jon has already promised to be at home that day with Owen. But on that next Monday our new schedule begins, including daycare drop off/pick up. I know I’m going to be a wreck. Watch out Lowe’s, I’m going to be one super sensitive mama that day!
My new schedule will also include pumping during my work day. Lowe’s does have privacy rooms for this exact need, which is great. But it will be interesting to see how I fit pumping into my day. I am in meetings A LOT and I travel to Troutman quite a bit. There are several new mommies and lots of pregnant ladies at work right now, so I definitely won’t be the only one with this situation. (Yay for other mommy support!) It’s just another little adjustment for me as a working mom.
Owen did make his debut at work a couple weeks ago. We made a little visit to the Lowe’s campus and hung out with my co-workers for a bit. We also made it to a team lunch earlier this week. Both times Owen was awake and fortunately in good spirits!
September 23rd is coming quickly…I’m going to soak up every minute I have with Owen for my remaining few weeks of maternity leave.
