Happy Daddy’s Day

What a fantastic first father’s day! We started by getting up extra early to hit up Cafe 100 for breakfast and got right in. That in itself was a miracle. Owen was pumped as he got to dig into some pancakes (his new favorite breakfast item). Then it was back home so daddy could get in a run in the neighborhood before we hit up Zootastic in Troutman.

We pulled in not really knowing what to expect as it is an understated entrance to say the least. It was such a pleasant surprise to find animals that seemed healthy and happy and close enough to touch…literally. There were only a handful of animals that were out of reach (probably for good reason…i.e. tigers). Owen even got to hang out and pet a kangaroo who was nice enough to lounge by the fence for us. I think his favorite was the Coatimundi though (not pictured) as he couldn’t point enough at him. It was not crammed with people and there were so many friendly keepers willing to answer questions and interact with the kids. And it was free for dads so that was awesomeness.
